Dermal fillers are used to “fill” facial folds and restore volume to areas of the face that have begun to suffer the effects of aging. Common areas include facial folds are the nasolabial folds (the “parenthesis” surrounding the mouth) and marionette lines (starting around the corners of the lower lip and extending down). Additionally, volume loss often occurs in the cheek and lip areas. Fillers are used to restore the natural and youthful look of fuller lips and sculpted cheeks.
The improvements are immediate. Depending on the specific product chosen, effects can last up to a year or more.
Immediately after the treatment you may experience swelling that can last up to a few days. Bruising can occur up to 3 days after treatment and last up to a week to 10 days. You may be able to help minimize bruising by stopping all non-physician prescribed blood-thinning medications 7 –10 days prior to treatment.
